Foliar application of 5-aminolevulinic acid alleviated high temperature and drought stresses on wheat plants at seedling stage

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) seedling establishment is very sensitive to temperature and drought stresses. The present study was conducted investigate the effects of foliar exogenous 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) application on wheat under different (25, 30, 35 â) water regimes (normal 65% watering). Five levels 5-ALA (0, 25, 50, 100 150 mg L-1) were applied as application. Leaf area, stem diameter, shoot root lengths, fresh dry weights root, physiological parameters measured. Drought stress (W2) decreased leaf area by 14.9% compared with normal watering (W1). High (35 increased malondialdehyde (MDA) content 72.1% control (25 â). â W2 reduced 71.8% 51.9% relative 25 W1. At â, L-1 length 17.1% 3.4% at W1 W2, respectively. weight 101.0% 0 â. highest protein (8.35 g-1 FW) achieved interaction between 50 5-ALA. proline 66.5% L-1. results suggest that could be useful alleviate and/or stresses seedling.
